Still annoying in Fedora is the default bell from terminal...
...yes I know there are a lot of posts on how to disable it but I don't want to disable it... I want a better sound.
But of course there are solutions and in this case is "xset - user preference utility for X".
For this particular case I was quite satisfied running:
xset b 100 80 60
That made it for me !
Well the "b" option for xset controlls the bell.
(Probably that was obvious...)
Next params are in order:
- 100 - volume - in my case is 100% - this is also the default
- 80 - pitch - in my case 60 hertz... if you go up the sound will be higher in hertz... so even more painful - the default value is 400... my ears complained about 2000 as a value for this
- 60 - duration in miliseconds - default was 100
I don't think it's a pattern (-20)... I just like it this way.
To make this permanent you might want to add it in your /etc/rc.local file.
If I think more... this is another good practical joke on office mates: if they forget the station unlocked, quickly, open a terminal and hit...
xset b 100 2000 30000
At the frequency where my ears complained... those are going to be the longest 30 seconds ever...
Have fun !
